And the " Global Village " became a Reality Internet has made real what in the 1970's that visionary of the communications Marshall McLuhan (1911-1980) called the "Global Village". The Internet is defined as the worldwide interconnection of individual networks operated by government, industry, academia, and private parties. Originally the Internet served to interconnect laboratories engaged in government research, and since 1994 it has been expanded to serve millions of users and a multitude of purposes in all parts of the world. In a matter of very few years, the Internet has consolidated itself as a very powerful platform that has changed the way we do business, and the way we communicate. The Internet, as no other communication medium, has given an International or, if you prefer, a "Globalized" dimension to the world. Internet has become the Universal source of information for millions of people, at home, at school, and at work. Internet is actually the most democratic of all the mass media. With a very low investment, anyone can have a web page in Internet. This way, almost any business can reach a very large market, directly, fast and economically, no matter the size or location of the business. With a very low investment, almost anybody that can read and write can have access to the World Wide Web. |
Today's Quote..!
“When I took office, only high energy physicists
had ever heard of what is called the World Wide
Web... Now even my cat has it's own page.”- Bill Clinton

History of how Internet Marketing Was Born..!
It's hard to believe, but just ten short years ago, there were only a handful of entrepreneurs who took the Internet seriously. Today, putting up a web site, buying traffic and taking orders is so easy that hundreds of thousands of people around the world make all or part of their living from the Internet.
Ten years ago, only a small handful of people did.
The company that made the difference was Netscape. Netscape made using the Internet easy and not just for users, but for people who wanted to use it to publish and sell products and services as well.
Ten years ago on August 9, 1995, Netscape's shares went public and its co-founder, 23 year old Marc Andreessen was suddenly worth $100,000,000. The Internet boom was on.
Why the web grew so fast The key to the Internet's explosive growth in the 1990s was commerce - buying, selling and marketing.
But who invented the concept of the Internet as a marketing medium? Who got that ball rolling?
Before the post-Netscape boom, the Internet was used only for sending e-mail and file sharing. Many business people at the time, including Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, publicly stated that making money on the Internet would be impossible. Some even opposed the idea of opening the Internet to commerce at all.
To answer the question of 'Who got the ball rolling on Internet marketing?' you've got to go back in time... to San Francisco...1994.
Banner ads, online catalogs, viral marketing, keyword ads, calculating clickthrough rates, the Internet as a direct marketing medium...all these innovative leaps and more were laid out by just a handful of people who could fit comfortably around a small card table.
A lucky historial accident -
Someone had a video camera On November 4, 1994, the leaders of the movement to commercialize the Internet got together to share their visions of where they thought business on the Internet was headed.
There were two remarkable things about this event. First, how incredibly accurate their visions turned out to be. Second, the entire historic meeting was captured on video!
Imagine being able to watch Thomas Edison talk about his invention of the light bulb before it went mainstream.
Well, you can't do that, but you can see Marc Andreessen and others who launched the Internet business revolution, reveal where they thought the Web was headed years before it actually got there.
Experience the excitement first hand If you like history or are just a fan of the Internet and are curious about how some of the things that are now commonplace came into being, you'll find this video fascinating.
To celebrate the 15th anniverary of the first web page, this never-before-released historical footage is being made available to history buffs and Internet enthusiasts for just $29.95.
Bonus: The birth of the banner ad Included in this program as a bonus is an extended interview with one of the earliest pioneers of Internet advertising, Rick Boyce, who reveals the origin of the first banner ads and the surprising fact that the first keyword ad, the forerunner of today's Google Adwords, ran way back in 1995!
